What you will be doing
You will be cooking for both established menus and special banquet events. The Chef relies on you to get it right and you take pride in making it happen. The bustle and intensity of the kitchen energizes you. You understand the importance of staying within budget, and knowing exactly how much to prep. You also understand the importance and necessity of kitchen cleanliness and safe food handling. Must be able to work mornings, weekends, and some holidays.
The ideal candidate for this position
- Three or more years of experience as a line cook in an upscale restaurant | High-energy, proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment | Ability to work (and have fun) in a diverse team | Passionate about food | Ability to work under stress | At least 3 years of previous line cook experience required in an upscale restaurant.
KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS
The individual holding this position must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Culinary, sales and service background.
- At least three (3) years of line cook experience in an upscale restaurant
- College degree in related field preferred.
- Ability to listen effectively and to speak English clearly to communicate with customers and team members and prepare written complex reports.
- Must have coordinating skills as pertains to determining time, place and sequence of operations or action.
- Ability to analyze information and make effective judgments.
- Licenses or Certificates-Ability to obtain any government‐required licenses or certificates. For example: Washington Health Card; Food Handlers Permit, etc.
