About Us:
The Spanish Playhouse is a growing specialty program that focuses on arts-based Spanish language immersion for children ages 18months-10years. Our mission is to facilitate a dynamic Spanish immersion environment for young children from diverse backgrounds. Through engaging experiences and the integration of various art forms, we aim to develop language skills and a deep appreciation for artistic expression. We currently offer three Spanish Immersion Programs and plan to expand our offerings to serve the Providence, Rhode Island community and beyond.
Position Overview:
The Spanish Playhouse is hiring a Spanish and Arts Teacher to develop and implement curriculum for our Day Program and Spanish Club. The Day Program is designed for children ages 2-5 and runs Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Spanish Club is an arts-based extension of the Day Program from 12:30-3:30pm. The Day Program guarantees daily exposure to the Spanish language, fostering a strong linguistic base and empowering children to communicate with confidence. Alongside Spanish, our curriculum also includes arts education, cultivating a love for language learning, artistic expression, and cultural appreciation right from the start.
The ideal Spanish and Arts Teacher will have experience working with young children, an appreciation for the Arts, and a desire to collaborate with like-minded individuals to make a difference in the local community. We are looking for a kind, creative educator who is passionate about the importance of fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance and develop curriculum for preschool-aged children incorporating Spanish immersion, arts education, and Montessori techniques.
- Create and implement lesson plans with developmentally appropriate learning objectives and pedagogy.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to facilitate an engaging, immersive learning environment.
- Foster positive relationships with students and families within our close-knit community.
- Track student progress through regular observation and assessment.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a valid first aid certificate to effectively address any medical needs that may arise.
- Additional duties related to ensuring a safe, orderly, welcoming classroom environment as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Our teachers are fluent Spanish speakers. Proficiency in English is required to ensure seamless communication with families.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with young children in educational or recreational settings.
- A degree in Early Childhood Education is highly preferred, but a related field may be considered.
- Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in developing curriculum for preschool aged children.
- Demonstrated ability and comfort performing in front of an audience, with a background in music performance highly preferred. Singing skills are essential for engaging and inspiring young learners.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- A vibrant and engaging personality that captivates and connects with young children effectively.
- Must successfully pass a background check to ensure a safe environment for all children.
