This role is about showing up consistently, building trusting relationships, and creating positive outlets where youth feel supported, seen, and connected.

As a Community Health Worker – Youth Initiative, you will:
This is a full-time, 40-hour position with a schedule of Tuesday – Saturday, primarily during mid-shift to evening hours to best meet the needs of youth and families. Work will take place directly in the low-income communities we serve and occasionally at the SPARC office or partner sites.

- Develop, lead, and implement fun, engaging activities like arts, crafts, games, and community events.
- Show up consistently in communities to build trust and lasting relationships with youth and their families.
- Create safe spaces where youth feel supported, listened to, and encouraged.
- Work with youth to co-design activities that reflect their interests, voices, and talents.
- Provide mentorship, social-emotional support, and encouragement to help youth make positive choices.
- Connect youth and their families to resources and services that meet their needs.
- Participate in community outreach and events to strengthen partnerships and build connections.
- Track participation, complete documentation, and report outcomes weekly.
- Passion for working with youth, especially in underserved communities.
- Ability to connect and build trusting relationships with young people and families.
- Experience leading youth groups, activities, or programs.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Creativity and flexibility to adapt programming to fit community needs.
- Understanding of the impact of violence, trauma, and systemic barriers on youth and families.
- Lived experience or connection to the communities served is highly valued.
- Background in arts, recreation, or youth development is a plus.
