The Spay Neuter Project is in the process of hiring a lead Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are a high quality, low-cost spay/neuter clinic that follows the high standards of the ASPCA Humane Alliance model for spay/neuter surgery.
The Veterinary Technician provides support to every aspect of daily medical and surgical operations. This versatile position is challenging, fast-paced, requires multitasking, physically demanding, and extremely rewarding. The person in this role must possess diplomatic and outstanding communication skills, an innate ability to perform as a team member and independently, and a relentless determination to be high functioning and perform their duties consistent with best practices. Fundamental expectations for this role are providing impeccable care to surgery patients, eagerly assisting veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and vet assistants in pre, peri, and postoperative duties, participating in facility upkeep and maintenance, and enthusiastically greeting clients and volunteers.
Veterinary Tech Duties and Responsibilities will be the following, but not limited to:
- ability to work in a high volume surgical setting
- ability to intubate and monitor patients under anesthesia
- requires lifting of heavy dogs up to 50 pounds and team lifting dogs up to 100lbs
- ability to take direction and feedback in learning new skills
- ability to work alongside staff members, including veterinary assistants helping prepare for surgery and monitor recovery
- ability to restrain animals properly and safely for medical procedures
- ability to help clean the veterinary clinic to help prevent the spread of disease. Cleaning entails sweeping, mopping, sanitizing kennels, doing laundry and restocking exam rooms/surgery. Our clinic has a high standard of cleanliness and patient care and all staff are involved with cleaning.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Assist in holding and restraining animals during exams
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and tools
- Ensure exam and operating rooms are stocked
- Provide care for animals after procedures, such as recovering from anesthesia as the animal wakes up
- Ensure all cages and kennels are kept clean
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
