Position: Estimator Pharma Capital Projects
Location: Highland Park, New Jersey
Position Summary:
The Spear Group has a great opportunity for an experienced pharma project Estimator to support our life sciences / biopharma world class client. The owners side Estimator will play a critical role on the biopharma client's capital construction project team. This individual will be responsible for preparing bids, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and the owner / stakeholder assessing overall scope and cost of capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager (PM) with the development/review of high-level cost estimates.
- Estimates may be OOM, concept, programming, BOD level for funding appropriation
- Assist PM with development of detailed cost estimates.
- Estimates may be check estimates/review for budgeting and detailed bid reviews.
- Assist PM with value engineering related activities.
- Provide cost estimates for identified risks.
- Lead development of cost related templates and documentation.
- Provide review and check estimated costs in forecasts and future spending requirements
- Develop a change order/contingency management process and robust method of assessing legitimate Change Orders.
- Provide procurement strategy recommendations to Project Managers when required.
- Assist PM with setting up project profile in system and assist with collation of bid documents for upload and issue to vendors.
- Assist PM with bid review and normalization process.
- Assist in preparing cost status reports for entire project portfolio for dissemination to Program Managers.
- Provide monthly updates of actual/forecast spend targets to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Assist Program Analysts with any cost/procurement/contract related queries.
- Provide benchmark data for use in measuring performance.
Required Experience and Education:
- Minimum of 8 years of estimating experience preferably in pharmaceutical construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor costs specific to industrial and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Proficient in using estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of construction codes, regulations, and industry standards relevant to industrial and pharma construction.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to develop accurate, reliable cost estimates.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Bachelors degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead a team
