We are seeking a compassionate and skilled RN Circulator to join our healthcare team. As an RN Circulator, you will play an essential role in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality of care during surgical procedures. You will work collaboratively with the surgical team to provide safe and effective patient care in a fast-paced environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Utilizes assessment skills and tools to identify problems, needs, and interventions.
- Recognizes patients' and families' need for instructions and initiates appropriate action.
- Set priorities for action based on problem-solving processes, common sense, and meeting patient care priorities.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to signs and symptoms of health-threatening changes and reports abnormal results of diagnostic studies to the appropriate physician.
- Understand and meet the unique needs of patients/significant others.
- Participates in reviewing and revising quality assessment improvement criteria and standards of care.
- Completes appropriate Competency Checklists annually.
- Establishes and maintains an aseptic environment for each surgical patient.
- Administers parenteral therapy and blood products according to policy.
- Administers medications according to policy.
- Carries out physician's orders accurately, clarifying questionable orders.
- Performs treatments and procedures according to policy.
- Maintains adequate supplies and ensures that equipment is in appropriate working condition.
- Initiates and carries out appropriate emergency procedures.
- Initiates nurse-physician communication appropriately.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and quiet environment for patients and other personnel.
- Utilizes sound nursing judgment, as evidenced by the ability to provide a rationale for decisions made.
- Demonstrates ability to circulate on all types of surgical procedures performed at this facility.
- Demonstrates organization skills: Accurately anticipates the needs of the surgical team by ensuring the timely availability of needed supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrates a willingness to orient as a scrub nurse on surgical cases.
- Recognizes potential benefits of selected new products and discusses possible acquisition for use with the Surgical Services Director.
- Document, in writing, the specific actions during a code and convey this information to the Surgical Services Director.
- Serves as a resource person for updating or improving patient care practices.
- Assists in facilitating the patient-physician-nurse communication process.
- Serves as a preceptor in the orientation of new employees.
- Assumes leadership role as a role model, especially in crises.
- Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals.
- Possesses working knowledge of equipment used in the Operating Room, as demonstrated by completing the competency checklist.
- Maintains quality of surgical instruments through proper maintenance, cleaning, lubricating, sterilization, and storage according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Reports damaged instruments to the Surgical Services Director and follows the proper procedure for damaged instruments and equipment.
- Provides patient privacy and confidentiality, allowing patients' dignity to be maintained.

Requirements:Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a circulator is preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Currently licensed as a registered nurse by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required, and CNOR certification is preferred but not required.
Special Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team and maintain composure under pressure.
Physical Requirements: Maintain physical tolerance (stand/walk/work on your feet for 8-12 hours at a time with minimal breaks).
