We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the sterile environment of the operating room by helping the circulating nurse, surgeon, and procedures. The surgical technologist will also maintain minimum stock levels to meet the needs driven by case volume to achieve optimum performance in the operating room. Your responsibilities will include the following:
Requirements
Education: A graduate of an accredited surgical technology program and/or acquired knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile technique is preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or medical setting is preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Current certification from LCC-ST (Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist) is preferred. Current BLS certification is required.
Special Skill: Strong attention to detail and ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements: must be able to stand for long periods.

Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Assists physicians as a sterile member of the operating room team.
- Maintains awareness to prevent surgical harm or injury to the patients.
- Set priorities for action based on problem-solving processes, common sense, and meeting patient care priorities.
- Utilize work assignments to develop the unique abilities of individuals and meet the special needs of patients/significant others.
- Maintains proper body mechanics while turning, lifting, bending, stretching, walking, and standing.
- Performs duties designated by the Clinical Services Director or charge nurse.
- Establishes and maintains an aseptic environment for each surgical patient.
- Demonstrates a consistently high degree of accuracy in the accomplishments of daily activities.
- Possesses knowledge of surgical procedures.
- Possesses a working knowledge of equipment used in the operating room.
- Assists professional nursing staff by scrubbing on all types of surgery cases.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and quiet environment for patients and other personnel.
- Serves as a preceptor in the orientation of new employees.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality while ensuring their dignity is respected.
- Maintains quality of surgical instruments through proper maintenance, cleaning, lubricating, sterilization, utilization, and storage according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Maintains a clean, safe environment for processing sterile supplies.
- Responsible for decontamination procedure on all instruments and equipment.
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude and works cooperatively and effectively with all healthcare team members.
- Communicates courteously and professionally with physicians, unit personnel, and other departments.
- Discuss problems or complaints with the Surgical Services Director, following the proper chain of command.
- Identifies when coworkers need assistance and cooperates willingly in completing heavy work assignments.
- Assists in all perioperative areas as needed.
- Assure cases and rooms are prepared for the next day's surgeries.
