Cleaner

We are looking for a motivated, self driven cleaner to join our team. We are a very busy college bar in the UMass area. Our cleaning needs heavily reflect the academic calendar of the college students in the area as they frequent our establishment. This is a unique position where heavier cleaning is needed during the school semesters and very light cleaning during winter break and summer break. Salary remains the same weekly year round.

Additional income includes cleaning of our event space. Our private event space is booked out in advance and is separate from the salaried cleaning position. This is paid per diem but is part of this job requirement.

This job is flexible in how you create your own hours. You may come in starting as early as 4am or as late as you'd like however the establishment needs to be clean and ready by noon daily on your scheduled days, so plan accordingly to give yourself enough time to complete tasks. Weekends are required because again we are a frequented college bar.

Winter breaks (mid December-last week January) and summers ( June, July and through last week of august) the bar is VERY slow and requires next to no cleaning. Pay remains the same. Summer time we do still have the event space that will need cleaning and pay is separate than this salaried position. We are not opposed to a discussion of more pay during heavier season and reduced during slow summers if that interests someone.

Responsibilities

• Follow established cleaning procedures and protocols to maintain a consistent level of service.
• Sweeping bar floors and running walk behind floor scrubbing machine. Spot mop if needed.
• Clean bathrooms including sinks, toilets, urinals and floors
• Wipe down bar, tables and chairs and all drink rails
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management.
• Utilize appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
• Mop behind the bar however bartenders are responsible for keeping their bar beyond that. Cleaner is responsible for anything on the other side of the bar area.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in custodial or commercial cleaning is preferred but not required.
• We are known for being one of the cleanest bars in the area, we require strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions effectively leaving the bar very clean.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies is a plus.
• Ability to work independently is a must. You will most often be alone and be required to keep yourself on task.
• Good physical stamina; ability to lift and move items as needed.
• Excellent time management skills to complete tasks efficiently.
