Job Description: The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Youth Programs Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Youth Programming Department across select locations. In practice and on the floor, they will exemplify all attributes associated with an all-star Youth Programs team member. Leading by example, the Youth Programs Coordinator will always be staffed as the #1 for all youth programs. They are the consistent face kids see when coming in for their programs. The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing curriculum for all programs based on the resources and guidelines made by the Youth Programs Manager. They actively take direction from the Youth Programs Manager, and may tackle things from programming set-up in RGP, scheduling, and customer follow-up and data analysis.
Compensation: $37,000 - $44,500 per year, paid on a semi-monthly basis
Qualifications:
- 3 years climbing experience in all relevant facets of rock climbing, specifically, indoor, outdoor, bouldering, and sport
- Education background preferred but not required
- Ability to lead by example and teach all youth program curriculums
- 1 years curriculum development experience
- Personable, friendly, and helpful attitude
- Professional attitude, willingness to learn
- Ability to assess, teach, and critique climbing technique to climbers of all abilities
- Extensive experience in risk management for rock climbing, transportation, camping, sensitivity with minors, etc
- Must have completed Mandated Reporter Training
- Strong communication skills: interpersonal, customer relations, conflict resolution
- Must be friendly and people oriented, able to connect and build relationships with members and guests, youth participants, parents and staff
- Single Pitch Instructor or Climbing Wall Instructor certifications are preferred but not required
- CPR/ First Aid Certification preferred but not required
- Background check required
Position Responsibilities:
- Support regular quality check processes that include but are not limited to collecting customer feedback
- Support the development and evolution of all youth programming curriculum
- Improve and expand program curriculums as needed, in coordination with Youth Programs Manager
- Maintain organization within the team drive, removing out of date materials from staff access
- Support the development of departmental SOPs
- Schedule youth program coaches
- Support data analysis as required to understand how programs are performing relative to their potential
- Maintain 24 hour response time with all customer-facing external communication
- Support recruitment and hiring of all programs staff
- Support staff training on program goals, expectations, and fulfillment
- Mentor and develop other programs staff
- Support management of all RGP components for programming bookings
- Attend and be prepared for all meetings
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude while representing The Spot and ensuring young climbers are given an exciting, risk-managed introduction to the sport
- Complete outreach for private instruction, and work a minimum of 4 privates a month
- Other duties, as required
Reports/logs to be delivered to direct supervisor:
- Youth program debriefs
- Monthly production reports
- Quarterly or semi-annual informal staff reviews
- Semi-annual supervisor feedback and review
Performance Review Schedule:
- 30 days from hire-date, then semi-annually ongoing
