The Maintenance Assistant for our community supports the Director of Plant Operations to ensure proper, consistent maintenance of our community, including building interior and exterior, grounds, walkways, driveways, and parking lot.
Job Details
Position: Maintenance Assistant – 3 Months Temporarily
Location: 1950 NE 102nd Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97006
Work days: Sunday – Thursday (4-10)
Hours: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
Pay: $19 - $25
Essential functions of the job are:
Support proper and consistent maintenance of facility exterior, including building, lawn, plant and/or flower beds, walkways, driveways, fountains, gates, and parking lot.
Support proper and consistent maintenance of facility interior, including resident apartments, common areas, HVAC Equipment, swimming pool, gym equipment, commercial kitchen, refrigeration equipment, offices, storage rooms, and kitchen.
Assures all equipment and supplies related to maintenance tasks are stored appropriately and safely.
Assures Director of Plant Operations is regularly informed of facility status, and particularly of any significant problems for which guidance is necessary.
May be required to drive community vehicles to and from required destinations, safely and according to schedule.
Since The Springs Living is a community that is open 24x7x365, candidates must have excellent attendance, including the ability to work weekends, overtime, and holidays.

- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical AS degree or Technical Military training is preferred,
- Previous experience in construction or apartment maintenance preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines: carpentry/flooring/walls; HVAC installation and maintenance (roof top units, commercial refrigeration, PTAC units, VRF Systems, condensers); Swimming pool maintenance, chemistry and record keeping; Electrical systems, breakers, switches, LED conversions; Residential and commercial plumbing.
- Maintains current and appropriate driver’s license or CDL and safe driving record.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics, As-Built drawings, manufacturer specifications, and administrative regulations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, electronic, or schedule form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to prioritize and organize assignments.
- Proficient PC skills including e-mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Typical physical and environmental considerations:
- Maintainability to lift 75 pounds; to stand or walk throughout the vast majority of the workday; and to frequently push, pull, bend, twist, and reach
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the fingers and to reach/handle items.
- Must also be able to walk throughout campus frequently for extended periods. (Up to five hours)
- Involves light to heavy physical activity, performing non-strenuous and strenuous daily activities
- May be exposed to bio-hazardous materials, including but not limited to, blood and bodily fluids, sharps exposure, animal dander, and latex.
