Position: Registered Nurse (RN) with Director of Nursing (DON) experience preferred.
Purpose of Your Job Position:
As the Director of Nursing (DON) at The Springs of Brinkley, your primary role is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of our Nursing Department. You will ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided to our residents, in line with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. You will work closely with the Administrator and Medical Director to maintain a supportive and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Functions:
- Develop and implement nursing services, programs, and activities.
- Maintain and enforce written policies and procedures for daily nursing operations.
- Provide regular reports and recommendations to the Administrator on nursing service operations.
- Coordinate nursing services with other departments to ensure a cohesive care plan for each patient.
- Oversee compliance of nursing personnel with their job descriptions.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and facility surveys by authorized agencies.
- Review and contribute to patient discharge planning.
- Lead meetings with nursing and support staff to strategize services and programs.
- Communicate department policies to staff, patients, visitors, and government agencies.
- Handle administrative duties including patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
Nursing Care Functions:
- Participate in interviewing and selecting new patients, including PASARR screenings.
- Conduct Nursing Assessments and advise the Administrator on the department's capacity to meet patient needs.
- Make rounds at least twice daily to monitor patient care.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of physician orders, progress notes, and documentation.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and physicians to plan and implement patient care and rehabilitation.
- Review nurses' notes for accuracy and completeness and ensure they reflect the care provided.
- Provide direct nursing care when needed.
- Authorize and monitor the use of restraints per physician orders and facility policies.
- Ensure regular checks on patients who are unable to call for assistance.
- Engage with patients and families to discuss care plans and address concerns.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Director of Nursing (DON) experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
