SUMMARY The Physical Education/Health Teacher has the primary responsibility for all instruction and supervision of all activities related to fitness, recreation and lifestyle choices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. •Assessing individual students according to developmental norms of physical skill acquisition and planning instructional activities according to state regulations and curriculum standards in a structured and safe manner. •Planning and implementing group and 1:1 lessons in the area of Health Education according to state curriculum standards, while differentiating instruction according to the individual learning needs of each student. •Modifying the learning experience according to the clinical needs of each student by incorporating the recommendations of doctors, clinicians and supervisors regarding their diagnostic profile and psychosocial factors. •Applying approved behavioral protocols consistently, while demonstrating the ability to balance nurturance and accountability through unconditional positive regard •Supervising students during transitions at morning and afternoon transportation times as well as transition to and from Physical Education classes (including changing clothing, as needed). •Establishing and maintaining positive, productive working relationships with students, parents, colleagues and supervisors by modeling a commitment to teamwork and professionalism. •Participation in Consultation and other staff meetings. •Any and all other assignments appropriate to the position as assigned by the Associate Director. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. RI Certification in Physical Education and Health LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATION RI Certification – Physical Education and Health Bachelor’s Degree in Education Valid Drivers license/registration Vehicle Insurance Completion of Criminal Records Check Fingerprinting Certification in Crisis Intervention, CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions.
