Job Description:
As the Sports Email Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing email marketing strategies across 17 diverse sports categories. The primary focus will be to create engaging, high-converting sales and awareness emails that resonate with The St. James audience, while also driving brand awareness and customer loyalty. This individual work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, content, and sales, to ensure all email campaigns are aligned with company goals and meet the specific needs of each sports category.
Key Responsibilities:
- Campaign Strategy & Execution: Lead the development and execution of weekly email campaigns for 17 different sports categories, ensuring content is tailored to each sport’s audience and current trends.
- Email Content Creation: Write, edit, and optimize compelling email copy that promotes product sales, seasonal promotions, and brand awareness. Collaborate with design teams to ensure visually appealing, on-brand email templates.
- Segmentation & Targeting: Utilize customer data and segmentation tools to target relevant audiences with personalized and relevant messaging. Continuously analyze and refine segmentation strategies to improve engagement and conversions.
- Sales & Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze email performance metrics, including open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, and revenue. Make data-driven adjustments to optimize campaigns for maximum ROI.
- A/B Testing: Implement A/B testing for subject lines, email content, calls-to-action, and send times to continually improve email performance.
- Automation & Workflows: Develop and manage automated email workflows for specific customer journeys, such as welcome sequences, post-purchase emails, and abandoned cart reminders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, content, design, and product teams to ensure alignment on campaign objectives and messaging.
- Customer Insights: Stay informed on the latest trends in sports, email marketing, and consumer behavior to ensure campaigns remain relevant and engaging.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all email campaigns comply with privacy laws (such as GDPR) and follow industry best practices for deliverability, accessibility, and ethical marketing.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in email marketing, with a strong background in sports or retail marketing.
- Proven success in developing and executing email campaigns that drive sales and engagement.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, persuasive, and engaging email copy.
- Proficient in email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.).
- Experience with email analytics tools and reporting (e.g., Google Analytics, Power BI, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of segmentation, personalization, and automation strategies.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on optimizing performance and achieving KPIs.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple campaigns in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for sports and understanding of different sports audiences is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing, and email campaign optimization.
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS for email template design (or experience working with a design team to implement email design).
- Familiarity with eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento) and integrations with email marketing tools.
