Job Summary: The position of Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing group exercise fitness instruction and supervision in variety of formats. Candidates must be able to instruct multiple fitness levels and ensure the safety of all patrons in the class. This person will enforce all building policies pertaining to group exercise and be able to communicate these to a diverse group of patrons why policies are in place. The instructor will serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness, and are responsible in ensuring that safety of the members is not compromised.
Job Responsibilities:

Instruct upbeat, enthusiastic fitness classes according to class description

Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards

Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance procedures and use of equipment; report any equipment failures in a timely manner

Maintain knowledge of POS system and member-based system
-
Assist with member/guests sign-ups for fitness classes, welcome and check member/guests into the wellness center
-
Anticipate member/guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all members/guests
-
Plans and leads exercise/activity sessions in one or more assigned fitness areas.

Sets up and monitors class equipment, and ensures its return in serviceable condition.

Advises participants on program and class procedures and policies, as appropriate.

Distributes handouts and/or class evaluations, if appropriate, and answers questions from participants after each session; assists in performing follow up and communication with participants, as required.

Always maintain positive guest relations

Resolve member/guest complaints, ensuring member/guest satisfaction

Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work area

Maintain complete knowledge of property and Watersound Club as a whole

Perform opening and closing procedures according to checklist

Greet members/guests
-
Maintain knowledge of hours of operation, memberships, fees, services, products and merchandise

Assist with fitness center equipment usage as needed

Monitor member/guest safety
-
Assist with wellness programming and events monthly as required
-
All other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
-
Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job related needs
-
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English
-
Group Fitness Certification Required (Cycle, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, TRX, Aqua Aerobics, Barre, Bootcamp, and/or HIIT)

Computer experience including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Excellent communication and customer service skills
-
Experience in a wellness/fitness setting and/or a passion for wellness/fitness
