Description
Job Description: The Range Safety Officer (RSO) will be responsible for overseeing all safety protocols and ensuring the well-being of all range users. In addition to safety responsibilities, the RSO will assist with various tasks around the range, including maintenance, cleaning, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
- Monitor shooting activities and provide guidance to ensure safe and proper use of firearms.
- Assist and instruct shooters, especially new or inexperienced participants, to promote safe practices.
- Empty trash receptacles, fill traps, and ensure the range is clean and organized.
- Clean and secure firearms, ensuring they are properly maintained and stored.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and assisting with any issues or concerns.
- Conduct routine inspections of the range and equipment, reporting any safety hazards or maintenance needs.
- Assist with organizing and running events and competitions.
- Maintain accurate records of range usage, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and continuously improve safety and instructional techniques.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Certified Range Safety Officer.
- Preferably an NSCA (National Sporting Clays Association) Level 1 instructor, or willingness to obtain this certification.
- Strong knowledge of firearms safety and range operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick, sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a shooting range or similar environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Customer service experience.
