Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection on patients of all ages in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Utilize the laboratory information system to document all pertinent details related to specimen collection and testing orders.
- Ensure appropriate labeling and acceptability of samples prior to transport to testing areas.
- Provide patients with clear and comprehensive instructions for specimen collection, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare team members to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to workflow changes and varying work locations as needed.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Clinical understanding of physiology and anatomy is beneficial.
- Prior experience as a clinical phlebotomist preferred.
- Training from an accredited phlebotomy program is preferred.
- College coursework in clinically relevant fields such as medical technology, anatomy, or patient care focused courses is advantageous.
- Certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is preferred.
