Job Summary

Job Summary
As a Building Engineer at The Standard, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boilers, locks, doors, and building automation systems. You will oversee preventative maintenance and repair work, perform hands-on repairs, and coordinate with vendors and inspectors. The role includes leading training for junior engineers and managing repair projects, ensuring the safety and efficiency of building systems.
- 25%: Oversee training for Building Engineer I & II job roles
- 20%: Complete lighting repairs and HVAC system maintenance
- 15%: Project management including vendor coordination
- 10%: Ordering parts and supplies
- 10%: Perform maintenance on commercial locks and door hardware
- 5%: Routine inspections and troubleshooting
- 5%: Timely completion of repair work orders
- 10%: Other duties as assigned
- Ability to work on-site in Portland OR is a requirement of the role. *
Must-Have:
- 7 years of experience in building engineering or a related field
- Proficiency with building automation systems, electrical systems, HVAC, boilers, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Advanced experience with hand tools, power tools, and equipment of building trades
- Familiarity with CMMS and Building Management Software (BMS)
- AA degree or equivalent training in building systems
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30, Abatement & CPR/First Aid, EPA/Refrigerant, BOC I & II, or LME
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Ability to walk the property, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and work in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques
- Ability to work at heights and on elevated platforms
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities
- Ability to work independently with a proactive approach
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
- Adaptability in managing different tasks and work environments
