PRN Pharmacist

Description

The pharmacist is responsible for all facets of the medication order verification, dispensing and documentation process for conventional chemotherapy and supportive care medications provided for the Infusion Center. The pharmacist will be actively involved in the provision of pharmaceutical care including providing drug information to the healthcare team and patients. The pharmacist will comply with company policy and procedures and quality assurance verification guidelines. Responsible for daily supervision of staff assigned to medication preparation, dispensing, and operation of the Infusion mixing center in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Responsible for verification of medication orders including accuracy of dosages and calculations.

2. Responsible for directly overseeing the preparation and dispensing of all medications for the Infusion Center, including supervision of certified pharmacy technicians during preparation of IV admixtures and oral medication dosages, insuring compliance with all steps of the double check verification process prior to releasing dosages from the Infusion Center.

3. Oversee drug inventories including documentation of current inventory, projection of expected usage in concert with ordering, receiving, storage and dispensation tracking of conventional medications.

4. Responsible for building and maintaining all chemotherapy regimens within the EMR system.

5. Responsible for facilitating departmental communication by demonstrating a professional, positive and helpful attitude in interactions with co-workers both internal and external to the Infusion Mixing Center.

6. Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department which requires daily accurate documentation.

7. Maintain education, skill assessment testing and competency requirements for current job title and position. Requirements include providing a true and correct copy of current pharmacy license and receipts from required continuing education (ACPE accredited courses).

8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy. Intravenous sterile product training preferred. Specialty residency in oncology and/or board certification in oncology pharmacy are a plus.

2. Licenses: Current State of Texas Pharmacy license

3. Experience: Two years of pharmacy experience, knowledge of IV and chemotherapy medications preferred.
