The State Group is seeking an Accountant based in Evansville, IN. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Compile financial information and prepare journal entries to produce accrual and cash-basis monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Review and post entries as required.
- Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations, recommend corrective entries, and follow up on outstanding items.
- Create accurate and timely departmental reports with detailed analyses of results.
- Analyze transactions and ensure all are entered into the system on a timely basis. Review, follow up, and report on exceptions.
- Maintain reports, spreadsheets, charts, and graphs to assist in the interpretation of operating results.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for accuracy, including invoices, contracts, and vouchers.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of financial information and protect operational integrity.
- Support the team by handling various data entry tasks, miscellaneous assignments, and other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
- A bachelor’s degree (BA) in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- A background in the construction industry is considered a plus, but not a requirement.
- Experience with financial software, and advanced MS Excel experience including linking documents, working with formulas, and creating pivot tables.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively.
