This is an entry-level professional position in the Permitting Program responsible for permitting activities related to Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP).

Pay:

$42,230 Annually


Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and evaluates environmental resource permit applications for conformance to state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Produces basic permits and/or documents and requests for additional information, when required, that are consistent with prescribed rules and department guidance and procedures.
  • Performs site inspections, as necessary, in support of permit application reviews and evaluations.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of required data and system information into agency databases and Oculus.
  • Provides technical assistance to the compliance assurance program.
  • Provides regulatory assistance, such as outreach, permitting determinations and exemptions, to permittee and/or company representatives, other department programs, delegated local programs, and other interested parties.
  • Participates in training activities as required.
  • Performs related work as required by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the terminology, principles and analytical techniques of the environmental or natural sciences.
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific or technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and leadership.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to cross-train into multiple regulatory programs.
  • Ability to utilize positive problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to meet established performance standards as identified in the district performance standards document.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; or Any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described in this posting, for a total of four years.
  • Travel
