Our Organization and Mission: The Department of Legal Affairs represents the State of Florida in state and federal courts. The Florida Elections Commission is administratively housed within the Department of Legal Affairs.
Pay: $49,693.02 - $51,312.30 Annually
Position Summary: This Investigation Specialist position is in the Florida Elections Commissions.
Qualifications:
Five (5) years of relevant experience (experience in law enforcement, civil investigations, fraud or white-collar investigations, any financial-related investigations or analysis, general research and reporting, banking, accountancy, paralegal, or government agency experience reviewing and analyzing written consumer complaints), or
An Associate degree (or 60 semester hours of college) and three (3) years of relevant experience as described above, or
A Bachelor degree (or 120 semester hours of college) and one (1) year of relevant experience as described above.
Preference may be given to applicants with two years experience conducting investigations for regulatory boards or commissions.
Other preferred experience to include review of financial documents; reading and interpreting Florida statutes; and experience writing comprehensive reports.
The Work You Will Do: This position’s duties include but not limited to the following:
Conducts thorough investigations of alleged violations of Chapter 104, Section 105.071, and Chapter 106, Florida Statutes.
Interviews witnesses, collects and examines records for evidentiary value, and prepares reports of investigations which are accurate and concise.
Drafts investigative plans for all cases assigned for investigation.
Processes auto-fine case appeals to the Florida Elections Commission
Attends meetings of the Florida Elections Commission, court hearings, and depositions throughout the State of Florida; gives testimony when needed. Assists staff attorneys with such proceedings as required.
Performs other duties as required
