Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for the quality assurance monitoring of licensed Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Programs in Florida by conducting DUI Program Site Visits, preparing Site Visit Reports, and investigating complaints. This position will be responsible for researching, developing, implementing, and facilitating training content and techniques in accordance with Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code for the DUI Pre-Service Trainings. The incumbent in this position will serve as a liaison between the Department, DUI Programs, and DUI and Special Supervision Services (SSS) customers. This position will also be responsible for participation in, and documentation of SSS Appeal Hearings.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the consequences for DUI and impaired driving offenses.
  • Skill communicating effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply state and federal motor vehicle laws, and agency policies.
  • Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements, determining key issues and developing solutions.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and principles.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations for the improvement of operational and administrative practices.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct program activities.
  • Skill in customer service and public relations, including exercising tact, diplomacy, and patience with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Knowledge of the principles of adult education and training and development techniques.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups and make effective presentations.
  • Ability to organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, training documents, policies, procedures and other written materials.
  • Experience with driver license records, the Florida DUI System, Ignition Interlock Device services, and/or substance abuse counseling.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience:

  • Experience in human services program monitoring and/or administration.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and/or PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge, skill or experience in analyzing information or documents for compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures.
  • Experience performing customer service duties, including handling complaints and problem-resolution.
  • Experience in preparing written reports and/or presentations.

Job Related Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to travel frequently and may require working evenings, weekends and overtime, for which the selected applicant will either earn leave compensation or be allowed to offset.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.   • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
