POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a highly responsible professional position in Florida Department of Law Enforcement's (FDLE) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS). ITS provides a wide range of services to FDLE and Florida criminal justice agencies that use its information systems. This position is a mid-level position in Open Systems Administration.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Installing, maintaining, and supporting Linux based servers in FDLE’s 24x7x365 datacenter;
- Installing and supporting Redhat Jboss middleware products, such as Enterprise Application Platform (EAP), Active Messaging Queuing (AMQ) and FUSE;
- Installing and supporting the Commvault Backup software;
- Utilizing automation software such as scripts or Ansible playbooks;
- Ensuring that systems/software installed contain no errors of sufficient magnitude to render production systems unusable;
- Adhering all installations to the standards, policies, and procedures of ITS for hardware and software management;
- Testing all software and hardware to ensure adherence to the required functionality;
- Monitoring and tweaking performance settings on all hosted storage within the agency’s storage area networks;
- Providing after hours on-call for Linux based server systems; and
- Creating and updating applicable documentation for new and existing Linux based systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Intermediate knowledge of Red Hat Linux Operating Systems;
- Knowledge of Linux security and file permissions;
- Knowledge of Linux networking;
- Knowledge of VMWare virtual machine technology;
- Knowledge of Commvault Enterprise Backup Software;
- Knowledge of using Ansible for task automation;
- Knowledge of basic scripting languages and concepts;
- Understanding of Application development and integration methods;
- Ability to prepare program specifications and requirements; and
- Ability to support Java, Jboss 7.x EAP Web applications.
BASE SALARY:
- $51,500.00
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
