Perform complex information technology (IT) system-related internal audits of various EOG departments, programs, and IT systems. This activity involves access to confidential information while carrying out job duties and all internal audits should be conducted in accordance with appropriate standards and policies, where applicable. Provide recommendations and insight into the level of effectiveness and efficiency of the engagement process and any associated templates.


Assist in the development of the Office of the Chief Inspector General’s risk assessment, analyze data, and participate in the development of the annual and long-term work plan. Assist in monitoring progress of the annual report.


Assists the Director of Auditing in activities delegated to the Chief Inspector General related to the monitoring of local government entities (municipalities, counties, and special districts) pursuant to Sections 218.50-218.504, F.S., the local Government Entity and District School Board Financial Emergencies Act.


Assists the Director of Auditing in monitoring activities related to external audits conducted by the Auditor General, OPPAGA, and other external audit entities. Coordinates activities with those entities with a view toward avoiding duplication. Assists EOG staff in preparing written responses to audit findings and monitors their implementation of corrective actions. Assists in the monitoring of external audit reports issued to all state agency Offices of Inspector General.


Assists in evaluating and developing Office of the Chief Inspector General procedures to increase production, improve quality of work, and to provide a standard by which Office of the Inspector General tasks should be completed. Ensure the staff is made aware of the changes to standards, help to interpret those changes, and implement any required changes to audit processes as a result of a change in standards to ensure compliance with required Quality Assurance Reviews conducted.


Assist the Chief Inspector General, the Deputy Chief Inspector General, and Director of Auditing with special assignments, as requested.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:


Knowledge of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, United States Government Accountability Office’s Government Auditing Standards, Institute of Internal Auditors' Professional Practices Framework, The Association of Inspectors' General Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association’s Standards, Guidelines and Procedures.


Knowledge of information technology and operational auditing best practices, skills, and techniques.

Skill to review the work of others for compliance with office and professional standards and communicate constructively when providing feedback.


Skill to effectively use word processing, electronic spreadsheets, graphic presentation software and data query computer language.


Ability to understand, interpret and appropriately apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures including in regard to sensitive and confidential information.


Ability to confirm whether an entity is following the terms of an agreement, or the rules and regulations applicable to an activity or practice prescribed by an external agency or authority.


Ability to analyze problems using sound reasoning to identify alternative solutions and distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information.


Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments based upon objectives, identify problems and opportunities, monitor progress, and accomplish goals.


Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to express facts and ideas in a succinct and organized manner and make clear and convincing oral presentations.


Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others by listening and facilitating an open exchange of ideas.


Ability to apply technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness of work assignments. Ability to manage priorities and meet established deadlines.
