MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional or nonprofessional experience in administrative work, regulatory work, consumer complaint program work, interviewing, business administration, customer or public relations or investigations.

Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals six (6) years can substitute for the above requirements.

Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an Approved Credential Evaluation Agency. Successful applicants must pass a background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

JOB DUTIES:

Maintain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Food Information Management System (FIMS) and statutory/procedural requirements for food permits. Interprets policies, procedures, and applicable Florida Statutes. Responds accurately to requests from internal or external stakeholders utilizing FIMS, Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, and procedures; external request responses must be provided within 48 hours of request or the next operational business day. Create new field requests for inquiries/notifications to be sent to field. Maintain Food Safety email inbox; review all requests received. Respond or forward/re-assign as appropriate.

Log onto Automated Call Distribution (ACD) line as needed. Handle difficult calls and coordinate workflow of call center agents. Act as Spanish liaison to assist businesses and consumers with questions and guidance regarding division permit process and complaints.

Oversees and assists with scan and upload/processing of incoming documents into FIMS, such as renewal applications, limited sales forms, returned mail, etc.

Special projects and other duties as needed. Serves as backup to Regulatory Specialist II when needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and basic mathematics.
  • Skill in typing and use of personal computer and word processing/database software applications.
  • Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate files.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to sort data and review information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately.
