JOB SUMMARY:

This is a Tax Auditor V position in the General Tax Administration Program, Refunds and Accounting Process, Refunds Unit. The incumbent conducts independent refund audits of one or more taxes and performs or assists with more complex audits of business entities for the various Florida taxes administered by the Department. The incumbent coordinates work as well as processes, examines, analyzes, or interprets accounting records and investigates financial information for the purposes of giving advice or preparing statements or reports for the Refund Sub-Process to ensure correct processing of refund claims. The incumbent is also responsible for training auditors, including on-the-job training and assisting in training sessions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five years of professional auditing or accounting experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting or area of business can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required auditing or accounting experience.
  • A master's degree in accounting or area of business can substitute for one year of the required auditing or accounting experience.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Documentation of education requirements must be submitted at the time of application to proceed to the skills verification test. Failure to provide education requirements could result in removal from further consideration.

SALARY: The hiring salary for this position will generally not exceed $5,461.87 monthly/$65,542.44 annually.
