Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: Conducts weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual health and safety inspections required by departmental and facility policy. Provides monthly reports to the Warden for review no later than 15th of each month. Monitor inspection deficiencies and ensure that corrective action is taken. Tracks and coordinates offender work crew safety training. Develops and delivers annual, basic and supervisory health and safety training for all facility staff. Reviews all offender injury reports for investigation and enters them into the KDOC system. Serves as Chairperson for the Facility Safety Committee. Schedules quarterly meetings and compiles safety related statistics. Regularly monitor safety conditions at the facility and provide feedback to facility leadership. Accompanies departmental and outside agency inspectors during scheduled inspections.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform tool inventories of all tools within the facility according to departmental and facility policy. Staff shall prepare and submit semi-annual inventory report of all tools. This shall be submitted to the Warden for review no later than April 15th and October 15th each year.
- Oversees and maintains all fire and safety equipment, maintains logs, works with outside vendors to ensure our fire safety system is up to date and ensures we are in compliance with the State Fire Marshal Inspection.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Licensing & Certification: Driver's License
Minimum Qualifications: Five years of experience in the field of corrections, including at least two years of experience in researching and/or enforcing policies and procedures for housing of incarcerated adult residents and/or inspecting adult correctional facilities for compliance with safety, health and/or accreditation standards.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties. May be required to pass a background check.
