Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This position supervises subordinate officers overseeing minimum custody adult male felons in a correctional facility. Duties are diversified and involve ensuring safety and security of staff, residents, and the public. Requires working effectively and efficiently to accomplish tasks involving all aspects of residents’ incarceration.

Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Licensing & Certification:
- KDOC CO Basic Training Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field of corrections or the detention of convicted offenders
- Currently working as an Employee for the KDOC
- Free from substantiated PREA claims
- At least 20 years of age at the time of appointment
- Meet all minimum qualifications for a COIA
- Free from felony conviction(s); free of any felony and/or misdemeanor domestic violence crime, No DUI convictions within the last 24 months
Preferred Qualifications: (May be used to screen applicants)
- Three (3) consecutive years of experience as a KDOC uniformed employee
- A current attendance record that is free from leave abuse
- Positive job history record showing progressive growth/leadership within the KDOC
- Excellent communication skills with peers, subordinates, residents, and the public
- Successful experiences running a KDOC Shift Office as Shift Supervisor or Assistant Shift Supervisor
