Compensation: $ 19.16 Hourly. Salary may be dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

As a CPS Human Services Specialist, you will:
Assist Scheduler for CPS. Assist scheduler for intakes to assure timely, accurate assignment. Utilize computer systems and multiple data bases to research, investigate and document information on new intakes as a supplement to the Child Protection Specialists intake information and to complete required background checks on all adults in the home of assigned intakes. Track and review daily Intake and Assessment (I&A) assignments. Complete necessary background checks on potential placements identified, utilizing a variety of agency resources and public access websites. Provide a high level of customer service to clients to assist in the provision of efficient and effective agency services to meet the needs of various clients. Research eligibility for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waivers for KC region Supervisors upon request. Research history and complete Child Death reports requested by Kansas Child Death Review Board send to Program Administrator for review and return. Research case history per Prevention and Protection Services PPS policy and procedure to ensure safety of field staff and children in custody for Assessment and Prevention. Track and review daily Intake and Assessment (I&A) assignments. Obtain/confirm paternity information, as needed. Complete necessary background checks on potential placements identified, utilizing a variety of agency resources and public access websites. Help identify trends/gaps in service or communication between departments and outside agencies.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines and/or providing technical assistance relevant to the agency's programs. Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualification: Experience with DCF computer databases.
Familiarity with social media and public website searches.

:
  • Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF. Must maintain security clearance throughout employment.
