Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Kansas Board of Indigents’ Defense Services (BIDS), through its regional public defender offices and assigned counsel program, represents adults charged with felonies who cannot hire an attorney. By supporting and elevating public defense in the State of Kansas, BIDS empowers its team to provide relentless representation and collaborative, holistic advocacy in service of client-centered outcomes.
The Technology Support Consultant III is a member of the BIDS Information Technology team which is located in the BIDS Administration office and supports the work of approximately 250 BIDS employees located at the 19 public defender offices throughout the State of Kansas. We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Technology Support Consultant III who is interested in aiding our efforts to support all BIDS employees, assigned counsel, and clients through the work of the Administration Office. The Technology Support Consultant III will perform advanced technical work advising and assisting computer users in solving problems in a distributed computing environment and serves as a senior consultant and/or subject matter expert providing consultation to users and staff for the most complex problems. Additionally, this position provides functional leadership responsibilities as a senior consultant and will serve as a project leader.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
The Technology Support Consultant III provides advanced technical support and guidance to users, serves as a project leader and provides mentorship to other BIDS Technology Support Consultants. This position serves as a senior consultant and/or subject matter expert providing consultation to users and staff for the most complex problems. Work includes installation of hardware and software, troubleshooting, configuring client server-based application software for LAN, server hardware, operating systems and application systems in a WAN environment, and provides technical consultation and training to users and information technology staff. Other responsibilities include providing server support, firewall and switch configuration, serves as backup operator, manages network infrastructure, and researches complex IT issues, identifies solution, and coordinates with agency’s Purchasing Department if needed.
Remote work is not available for this position. Frequent local travel and occasional in-state travel is required.
Qualifications:
Education
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Licensing & Certification
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment
- Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while exercising good judgment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Must follow the highest standards of professional conduct
- Ability to confidentially manage information with demonstrated ethical and professional conduct at all times
- Frequent local travel and occasional statewide travel may be required.
