Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Incumbent provides administrative and clerical support for the Warden’s Office. This position will support various office functions to include but not limited to preparing correspondence, answering phones, monitoring office inventory and ordering supplies, maintaining calendars, setting appointments, take meeting minutes and various other assignments as needed. This incumbent may be required to make independent decision at the direction of the Warden. This position will deal with confidential information regarding offenders and/or employees on a regular basis and will be required to maintain a high level of confidentiality. This position will be the lead administrative specialist over the senior administrative assistants of DW of Programs and DW of Support Services.
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Selection Process: Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior-based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval. A second interview may be conducted. Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver’s License.
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance within 10 days of the job offer. The certificate can be obtained by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website. A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. If an individual who has been offered employment cannot provide proof of a tax clearance certificate, the individual will be required to enter a payment plan with KDOR and remain current on such payment plan or make other arrangements with KDOR to achieve the tax clearance required under Executive Order 2004-03.
