Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This Utility Worker position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Support Services (BOSS). The purpose of this temporary position is to provide building services in support of the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) headquarters building.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensures jobs are completed properly and closes out service requests, obtains signature of requestor, and documents time expended on the Service Request Form 1157.
- Responsible for office moves, renovations and relocations.
- Picks up surplus items from cost centers, assures a Form 496 is filled out if necessary, affixes Office of Support Services number, records Office of Support Services number and KDOT number on an inventory control sheet and gives to Supervisor.
- Assembles and repairs a variety of office items such as chairs and other furniture.
- Picks up and delivers items for KDOT such as keys, materials from vendors, microfilm records, etc.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
- Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experienced in carpentry and mechanical skills.
- Ability to use, operate and maintain hand and power tools.
- Experienced in setting up office partitions.
Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements:
- This position is subject to pre-employment physical capacity testing. The selected candidate will be required to pass the screening as a condition of employment.
