The State of New Hampshire, Department of Corrections, Division of Administration - Logistics has a full-time vacancy for an Electronic Technician.
Summary:
Performs installation, testing and repairs on electronic security systems for the Department of Corrections and performs related work as required, working in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis, having responsibility for security.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma, G.E.D. or its equivalent, supplemented by appropriate trade school training in electricity plus a standard apprenticeship under a Master Electrician or completion of a two year college or technical institute course or equivalent education with major study in the field of electronics. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Three years of experience in the field of electronics, electronic security systems, electricity, radio, wire communications or similar activity, sufficient to provide a good technical knowledge of electronics equipment. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of formal education.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of the Corrections Academy and continuing Certification as correctional line personnel as established by the certifying authority.

Responsibilities:
Provides security, training and supervision for inmate maintenance workers in the electronics trades.
Detects electronic deficiencies or mechanical malfunctions and takes appropriate action to effect repairs or service and insures all work is in accordance with applicable standards.
Conducts weekly testing on a portion of the electronic security system and maintains a record of testing and repairs.
Provides technical support to the Electronic Technician III in repairing, installing, maintaining and testing of electronic security, communication and control system.
Reads blue prints and schematics, and interprets drawings for repairs.
Adheres to safety regulations as mandated by Safety Codes and departmental policy.
