Summary:
To manage administrative cases for adjudication through settlements and hearings before the Liquor Commission while implementing and following all NH Liquor Commission rules and policies.
Responsibilities:
Interprets state statutes and regulations to formulate recommendations for work strategies and disposition regarding agency legal issues.
Examines and analyzes cases in preparation for adjudication. Reviews technical documents to identify evidence and calculates administrative penalties.
Conducts settlement conferences with licensees and attorneys. Negotiates penalties to reach settlements with licensees for Commission approval. Communicates recommendations for improved business operations.
Prepares documents to resolve cases or in preparation for hearings. Drafts correspondences for the purpose of requesting and obtaining case-related information. Composes memoranda, motions, pleadings, exhibits, subpoenas and proposed settlement agreements.
Coordinates events in preparation for and at administrative hearings. Ensures court and administrative deadlines are met. Processes requests for discovery and motions filed by defendants and attorneys, according to Liquor Commission Administrative Rules and District Court Rules.
Manages information relative to violations. Populates database with license status changes, violation histories, and restrictions; processes payments to satisfy imposed fines and maintains statistics on resources assigned to cases.
Disseminates information to the general public in response to Right-To-Know requests as well as for press releases relevant to the findings of administrative cases.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in legal studies or related. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Four years' experience in civil litigation, criminal justice, real estate law, legal research, paralegal work, investigations, or human resources investigations. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Valid driver's license for travel throughout the State.
Preferred Qualifications: Possession of a Paralegal Certificate from a certified paralegal program.
