The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transporation, Bureau of Traffic, has a full-time vacancy for a Traffic Signal Technician I - II.(
SUMMARY:
Traffic Signal Technician I: P erforms skilled journeymen level field and shop work related to the maintenance and installation of traffic signals and related hardware.
Traffic Signal Technician I: To perform skilled journeyman level field and shop work related to the maintenance and installation of traffic signals, other energized traffic control and ITS devices, and related hardware.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Traffic Signal Technician I:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One year of experience in the maintenance and operation of traffic signal equipment or equivalent experience on similar equipment, i.e. computers, two-way radios, sophisticated electronics, etc. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B) with air brakes OR obtain such licensure prior to completion of the one (1) year probationary period. The applicant's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
Experience: Two years of experience in maintaining or servicing sophisticated electronics, one year of which shall have been in the maintenance and operation of traffic signals. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B) with air brakes. The applicant's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Traffic Signal Technician I:
Performs routine maintenance activities on signal heads, controllers and related hardware.
Assists in the maintaining of maintenance records on equipment and installations.
Performs operator level maintenance on assigned vehicle and equipment.
Performs shop repair and cleaning to controllers and associated equipment.
Cuts induction loops in pavement and installs detection wire.
Operates a 1-ton truck with bucket to perform repair and maintenance work.
Assists in the maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Devices.
Traffic Signal Technician II:
Supports the maintenance of various Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices as needed.
Assists in the maintaining of maintenance records on equipment and installations.
Performs operator level maintenance on assigned vehicle and equipment.
Cuts induction loops in pavement and installs detection wire.
Exercises partial supervision of employees when assigned.
Assumes the area foreman’s responsibilities in his absence.
Operates a 1-ton truck with bucket to perform regular repair and maintenance work.
