The State University of New York (SUNY) invites applications for the position of Health Policy Analyst in the Office of Health and Hospital Affairs. The SUNY System includes 29 state-operated campuses, 30 community colleges and five statutory colleges administered by private institutions of higher education located throughout the State. The System also includes four academic medical centers (Buffalo, Stony Brook, Upstate, and Downstate), three tertiary care hospitals, the College of Optometry, the Long Island Veteran's Home, clinical practices, and other related healthcare facilities.
The Office of Health and Hospital Affairs (OHHA) at SUNY System Administration, facilitates and supports the strategic direction, policy, operations, and advocacy for: SUNY's health care facilities and practices; campus healthcare, mental health and wellness for students; and, healthcare workforce.
The health policy analyst provides analytic, research, and policy support on a variety of exciting and impactful projects in the Health and Hospital Affairs portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a balance of strong quantitative skills and dedication to understanding project content areas, ensuring comprehensive analysis and informed decision-making for effective solutions.
The Health Policy Analyst will focus on Student Health and Mental Health. SUNY has been making significant investments to enhance student services and is committed to meeting student needs. The analyst will also have the opportunity to work general health policy issues, public health, and reproductive health.
Duties include:
Prepare reports and submit data related to the SUNY Community College Mental Health Internship Pilot Program through the Empire State Development (ESD) OSOS platform
Coordinate communication efforts to administer and monitor grant funding within the SUNY Research Foundation (RF) for the SUNY Community College Mental Health Internship Pilot Program.
Prepare quarterly updates to the SUNY-wide Mental Health Repository working closely with campus staff.
Assist with efforts to enhance user experience and improving promotional efforts for the SUNY-wide Mental Health Repository.
Prepare meeting minutes and assist with logistics for meetings involving key student health groups, such as the Mental Health and Wellness Advisory Committee, Counseling Center Directors, Campus Safety Monitors, the SUNY Health Council, and others as necessary.
Assist with the collection, monitoring, and review of quarterly and annual SUNY Student Tele-Psychiatry Network (STPN) data.
Coordinate the annual SUNY System Administration Flu/COVID-19 vaccination clinic and assist with the expansion of public health initiatives.
Assist with campus outreach for data collection efforts as necessary.
Monitor and report listserv activity related to student health to assess risk and opportunities for improvement.
Assist with tracking key legislation impacting student health.
Prepare student health research, literature reviews, reports, and proposals as needed for SUNY leadership.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques
Ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions
Organizational skills and project management
Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree.
1-2 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience and interest in Student Health and Mental Health.
Additional Information:
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $63,000-$72,000 annually.
State Title: Assistant to Director 13 (Grade MP5) and is a Management Confidential position.
