The Human Resources Assistant will be an HR generalist in the SUNY System Administration Office of Human Resources serving in a dual role working as part of the team that assists SUNY campus professionals with HR procedures and payroll processes for multiple payrolls, bargaining units, and online systems, and as part of the team that serves SUNY System Administration employees. The HR Assistant will be expected to review and analyze transactions and may need to enter certain transactions into several different online systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide timely and accurate responses to campus inquiries concerning HR and payroll processes rules, and requirements for all employee roles and bargaining units in a professional manner as part of a team that serves campus professionals.
Assist with general HR, payroll, benefits, and professional leadership development responsibilities as part of a team that serves System Administration employees.
Respond to transactional, data entry, and business requirement requests related to multiple systems including SUNY HR, PayServ, and NYSTEP.
Generate and analyze data in support of departmental needs and special projects.
Assist with review of human resources policies and procedures.
Maintain human resources websites.
Be familiar with federal and state laws, union contracts, Civil Service rules, and OSC payroll bulletins governing HR and payroll processes and be able to advise campuses and System Administration employees on interpretation where appropriate.
Review and analyze weekly position, transaction, and payment error reports. Work with campus staff to resolve issues to enhance the quality of data and ensure the accuracy of payments.
Work closely with all members of the team to share issues and questions that have a SUNY-wide or System Administration impact.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field is required by the start of employment (willing to consider anticipated May 2025 graduates as candidates).
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
Excellent independent judgement, including the ability to work with and protect confidential data.
Ability to analyze problems and work effectively and efficiently within strict deadlines in a fast-paced cohesive team environment.
Experience in working with or entering data in online systems is strongly preferred.
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
Experience in Excel and in generating and analyzing data using Excel and/or a Business Intelligence Reporting Tool is desired.
Additional Information:
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $50,000-$54,000 annually.
