Data Specific
- Extract, clean, combine, and analyze data from various sources using advanced SQL scripting and programming techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and develop solutions to meet business objectives.
- With a high degree of accuracy and efficiency, collect routine and/or ad hoc data/information from campuses and other SUNY System Administration functional area offices, review the data/information for potential issues, and consolidate the data/information into reports.
- Develop and implement data queries, programming, and management to support decision-making processes.
- Create and maintain documentation of data processes and findings.
- Track and investigate system errors and failures, determine root-cause, and coordinate response.
- Stay abreast of changes in IPEDS and NYSED reporting requirements, adjusting data definitions, code, and procedures to meet new mandates.
- Stay updated on best practices and emerging technologies in data programming and reporting tools
- Review detailed campus data submissions and assist in their finalization as needed to ensure a solid data foundation for the office's work.
- Work closely with SUNY campus counterparts and associates from other SUNY System Administration offices.
- Assist in responding to internal and external, formal and informal, scheduled and ad hoc data requests for information, data, and reports.
- Support the office's reporting of NYSED and IPEDS surveys, serving as survey project manager as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in complex data programming, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with complicated, large-scale data sets, particularly within the higher education context.
- Expertise in SQL and proficiency in other programming languages to manipulate, integrate, and analyze large data sets with complex structures.
- Demonstrated experience working with data definitions, data dictionaries, and data standards.
- Strong attention to detail. Ability to spot errors and inconsistencies in programming code, spreadsheets, reports, and graphics.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other System and campus administrators and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills to develop and execute work plans, prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet program demands and deadlines.
- At least five (5) years of experience working in higher education.
- Experience developing databases, in particular large-scale and from multiple data sources.
- Experience analyzing, querying, manipulating, and extracting data from large databases using SQL in an applied research or educational setting.
- Familiarity with matching data sets and manipulating large amounts of data from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated efficiency with advanced features in Excel, including but not limited to pivot tables, macros, and functions.
- Demonstrated ability to visually and graphically present data and information in a clean and informative manner.
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $80,000-$95,000.

- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- This is a full-time hybrid position that requires being on-site in Albany 50% (alternating 3 days one week, 2 days the next)
