SUNY System Administration, located in Albany, New York, is searching for a Copy Editor and Coordinator of Correspondence to join the Office of The Chancellor. The Copy Editor and Coordinator of Correspondence will report directly to the Director of Chancellor's Office Operations to review and edit all major communications stemming from the State University of New York Chancellor's Office and SUNY System Administration. In this role, the Copy Editor and Coordinator of Correspondence will be integral to SUNY's Chancellors Office, serving as editor to SUNY publications, and for all announcements, policies, and other official communications. The Copy Editor and Coordinator of Correspondence will also be responsible for Chancellor's correspondence-drafting and tracking correspondence.

Correspondence
- Serve as project manager on all incoming and outgoing Chancellor correspondence
- Work with Chancellor Office Administrative Assistant in monitoring Chancellor email in-box and letter mail, and manage process for developing responses
- Work closely with various System Administration offices and members of Executive Leadership Team, and campuses as appropriate, to draft concise and subject based responses
- Develop approval process on all outgoing draft responses to ensure accuracy and prepare sign-off procedures for appropriate officers, managers and Chancellor
- Draft correspondence on behalf of executive staff as requested
- Other duties as assigned
- Copy editing in support of various System Administration offices, including but not limited to the offices of the Chancellor, the Board, press & communications, and government relations
- Conduct research to inform projects and opinion pieces, as needed
- Conduct research to compile briefing documents for the Chancellor and executive staff
- Analyze and review documents, reports and memos prepared for the Chancellor and executive staff for content accuracy and consideration in terms of multiple stakeholder viewpoints, and provide relevant commentary for consideration
- Collaborate in the creation of PowerPoint slides and presentations for executive staff as requested
- Assist in drafting of speeches and quotes for the Board and executive staff as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in English, Communications, or related field
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience producing excellent written content on short timelines.
- Team players, collaborating with colleagues throughout SUNY to inform their efforts
- Communicators, editing to ensure clear and concise messaging for broad audiences
- Critical thinkers, analyzing data and letting it drive decision-making
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $60,000 - $72,000.
