Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life, Opportunity Program, and Student Advocate, the Director for Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Strategic Initiatives will plan, direct, and assess strategic initiatives in the Office of Opportunity Programs. The Director will provide leadership and direct supervision to program staff in coordinating a range of strategic initiatives, including, but not limited to, recruitment and enrollment, marketing, alumni engagement, and specialized academic programs. The incumbent will assess the effectiveness and impact of these initiatives, identify changing data needs, work with campus partners in establishing benchmarks, refine data collection methodologies, prepare comprehensive reports and presentations, and provide data-informed recommendations to leadership on strengthening the program. The position will call for working independently, under general direction, while using good judgement, and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. The Director for EOP Strategic Initiatives will serve as a key leader in the Office of Opportunity Programs, and will have a deep understanding, commitment, and value of working as a collaborator, with a strong personal orientation toward collaboration, transparency, and accessibility.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the Associate Vice Chancellor in the design, implementation, deployment, and assessment of a wide range of new and continue programs to advance the mission on the Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program
- Provide leadership for strategic initiatives in the Office of Opportunity Programs
- Provide leadership in ongoing strategic planning and partnerships for the Office of Opportunity Programs
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and direct supervision to program staff in coordinating a range of strategic initiatives.
- Design a project management structure to monitor, assess, and ensure effectiveness of programs and initiatives
- Lead Opportunity Programs staff in developing high quality assessment plans and ensuring effective use of assessment results to foster continuous quality improvement
- Conducts research, collect data, performs analysis, produces reports, and provides recommendations related to program initiatives
- Serve as strategic partner to Associate Vice Chancellor by providing updates and recommendations on initiatives and projects
- Provide data-informed recommendations to leadership on strengthening the program
- Continuously benchmark, assess, and enhance programs
- Analyzes data to make recommendations and improvements
- Work with campus EOP directors in establishing success benchmarks
- Refine data collection methodologies for the Office of Opportunity Programs
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on program outcomes
- Assist in the development and refinement of policies to ensure compliance with regulations
- Collaborates with Office of Institutional Research in tracking progress on program's strategic and assessment plans
- Manage system-wide contracts
- Represent department on cross functional teams and work with external stakeholders
- Contribute to promoting continuous improvement and innovation in supporting student success
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of ten years of experience in higher education administration, with at least five years of campus leadership experience at the director level or higher
- Strategic planning and management experience
- Minimum of two years of experience supervising professional staff
- Experience working in programs supporting the success of students from educationally and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds
- Experience with data collection and analysis
- Experience with program assessment
- Experience tracking key deliverables and following up on outstanding items
- Commitment to helping foster a culture of civility, respect, inclusivity, collaboration, and accountability
- Demonstrated understanding of student development and differences based on social, economic, and cultural backgrounds
- Current knowledge of a range of data collection methodologies
- Familiarity with New York State Opportunity Programs
- Master's degree or higher
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively use and present data
- Facility with data and technology, including use of PowerPoint, Excel. Word, and project management software
- Strong research skills
- Demonstrable ability to generate clear presentations and planning documents
- Demonstrate understanding of, and respect for, management protocol in higher education
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $118,000-$135,000 annually.
- This position is a Senior Staff Associate (Grade: SL-5) and is part of the United University Professions Union.

- This position will be based in Albany, NY.
- The incumbent may occasionally be required to work evenings or weekends. As with other Office of Opportunity Program team members, the incumbent may occasionally be required to travel for conferences, professional development or other obligations related to the position.
