The Director of Network and Systems Administration serves on the Information Technology (IT) leadership team and provides leadership, supervision, and coordination for central IT systems and clients. The Director supervises a team of server and infrastructure personnel, and has oversight of IT projects implemented within their area. The Director manages and coordinates IT installations for all building projects, renovations, expansions, and capital projects, as well as participates on of budget and lifecycle maintenance plans for technology equipment for the college.

Qualifications

Educational Background: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field plus four years’ supervisory experience.

Special Skills: Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to work effectively as a leader and team member required. Experience with managing network equipment (i.e., firewalls, switches, routers), windows servers and systems (i.e., Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, Active Directory, Exchange, Sharepoint) required.

Knowledge of business operations in higher education, including project management and budget management preferred. Experience with LDAP, Single Sign On, Identity Management systems, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Supports operations for the College’s network systems including the IP telephony system, video conferencing, e-mail services, helpdesk, distance learning infrastructure and Web services.
  • Supports systems integration with the College’s ERP computing software and the Windows environment.
  • Maintains security with policies, software deployments, security updates and patches.
  • Develops IT campus related policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management, security, and deployment of technology resources and services.
  • Researches to stay current with continually evolving technology trends and develops strategies to meet the college’s future technology needs.
  • Installs, configures, and manages Network infrastructure.
  • Supports the Virtual Network, Cloud Infrastructure, and Storage Area Network as shared disk environment.
  • Supervises IT personnel that design, deliver, and maintain Network infrastructure, servers and telecom systems.
  • Upgrades network developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements.
  • Supports the wireless networking, Windows server, and desktop environments.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the full scope of information technology resources utilized by the College, and employs said knowledge in the design of information systems with a focus on usability, seamlessness, homogeny, and efficient use of resources.
  • Functions as a member of the Information Technology Division leadership team in planning and implementing IT Division projects to meet academic and administrative needs.
  • Coordinates the central systems maintenance contracts ensuring that all systems have an appropriate maintenance service contract.
  • Develops yearly and multi-year budgets for the maintenance and enhancement of existing systems and for the development of new campus IT resources.
  • Assists in the development of new technologies to further improve Information Technology Services at the College.
  • Develops training strategies and programs for the systems and desktop personnel.
  • Serves on the Technology Advisory Groups in support of the college’s mission and vision.
  • Works in conjunction with the CIO to implement and streamline appropriate aspects of the Information Security Program.
  • Works directly with external vendors on purchasing, repairs, and installations of services.
  • Prepares and presents written and oral reports and communications and conducts special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer.

  • Frequently moves to other parts of the building and bending down for assistance with equipment setup.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds across office for various needs.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Benefits And Salary Range

  • Competitive starting salary in the range of $75,000 to $90,000 and is commensurate with qualifications
