Position Summary:
The Guest Services Representative is a key ambassador for the museum, shaping the overall guest experience and ensuring every visitor feels welcome, informed, and inspired. This role centers on creating a seamless, safe, and memorable environment for guests, fostering connections between visitors and the museum’s mission, exhibits, and programs. As a pivotal member of the Guest Services team, the Representative supports daily operations, advances the museum's goals, and contributes to its reputation as a dynamic and engaging cultural institution.

Key ResponsibilitiesDelivering Exceptional Guest Experiences

· Serve as the museum’s primary representative, warmly welcoming visitors and answering inquiries with enthusiasm and expertise.

· Provide thoughtful guidance about exhibits, programs, and events to enhance each visitor’s connection to the museum’s offerings.

· Ensure smooth, efficient ticketing and membership transactions while actively promoting the museum’s value through upselling and cross-selling opportunities.

· Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, addressing visitor needs, resolving concerns, and championing guest satisfaction.

Promoting Safety and Operational Excellence

· Safeguard the safety and security of visitors, staff, and exhibits by upholding and enforcing museum guidelines.

· Conduct routine inspections of exhibits and facilities, identifying and resolving potential safety or maintenance issues.

· Support emergency preparedness by following protocols and assisting guests during urgent situations.

· Reset exhibits daily, ensuring they are pristine, functional, and ready to inspire future guests.

Engaging Families Through Hands-On Activities

· Set up craft workshops, ensuring all materials and resources are prepared and organized for families to enjoy.

· Lead and assist families with craft activities, creating a supportive and fun environment that encourages creativity and engagement.

· Clean up and close the workshop area, ensuring it is left tidy, safe, and ready for the next activity.

Strengthening Museum Engagement

· Actively promote awareness of museum events, educational programs, and membership benefits to deepen visitor engagement.

· Support program staff with event coordination, logistics, and guest communication to deliver smooth and enjoyable experiences.

· Facilitate meaningful interactions between visitors and museum resources, ensuring guests can fully participate in offerings.

Contributing to a High-Functioning Operation

· Maintain the front desk area as an efficient and welcoming hub for museum activity

· Oversee inventory, signage, and guest communication materials.

· Perform administrative duties such as data entry, package handling, and maintaining accurate records.

· Collaborate with team members across departments to create a cohesive and efficient visitor journey, from check-in to departure.

Championing Team Collaboration

· Partner with colleagues across departments, including Guest Services Facilities, and Programs, to support a unified approach to operations.

· Participate in team discussions and share feedback to continuously improve processes, enhance the guest experience, and align with organizational goals.

· Contribute to a positive work culture by maintaining open communication and demonstrating a proactive and professional attitude.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

· 1-2 years of experience in guest services or customer relations, ideally within a cultural, museum, or nonprofit setting.

Core Competencies

· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

· Organizational and multitasking abilities to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

· Proficiency in basic financial transactions, including cash handling and sales operations.

· Problem-solving skills for addressing minor technical or operational challenges.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and navigate museum facilities as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 25 per week
