POSITION TITLE : Senior Director of Development Operations, The States Project

LOCATION :

National. 100% Remote, with 20-25% of expected travel including in-person team meetings and events.

Position Details :

This is a full-time, exempt at-will position. The team currently operates remotely, with occasional in-person team retreats. Some travel will be required. Additional evening and weekend hours are sometimes required to fulfill the duties of this position.

The Opportunity :

The States Project is seeking a Senior Director, Development Operations that oversees and optimizes the development team’s operational systems, workflows, and processes to ensure efficiency, scalability, and alignment with our fundraising goals. This role involves strategic planning, project management, and leadership across multiple teams.

The Senior Director, Development Operations will have the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, reason analytically, and relationship manage a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

What You Will Do :

  • Principal activities will include but not be limited to :

Development Stakeholder Management :

  • Monitor workflows to ensure compliance with relationship management rules, industry standards, and legal regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits of processes, identifying discrepancies or areas of non-compliance.
  • Train and educate team members on policies, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement a prospect research pipeline that will identify, evaluate, and engage supporters.
  • Strategic Planning :

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for system integration, process improvements, and operational excellence with partnership.
  • Align systems and processes with development and business objectives.
  • Systems Oversight :

  • Institute a robust checks-and-balance system, ensuring accurate reconciliation of donations with financial and other records.
  • Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Development team’s tools such as the CRM.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and meet the evolving needs of the development team.
  • Process Optimization :

  • Analyze existing workflows and identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks.
  • Lead process re-engineering initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Implement automation where appropriate.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership :

  • Collaborate with department heads to understand and work to resolve operational challenges and requirements.
  • Ensure systems and processes support cross-functional collaboration and communication.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management :

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Team Management :

  • Provide team members with the information, tools, and resources to improve performance and reach objectives.
  • Promote accountability, communicate expectations, and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular one-on-ones and performance reviews.

  • What Makes You a Unique Fit for This Role :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a marketing, business, non-profit leadership, or related area of study.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience fundraising for PACs and 501c4’s and 501c3’s, with a strong preference for PAC and C4 fundraising experience.
  • 5 years experience building and maintaining fundraising infrastructure, primarily working in donor databases.

    Compensation :

    The salary for this position is $164,025 - $173,138 per year

  • Salary offers are made based on the market rate and the candidate's demonstrated level of proficiency, experience, and credentials.
  • The pay rate or range noted for this position is in compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act and other state and local laws.
