POSITION DETAILS:
Job Title: High School Certified Athletic Trainer
Assignment: High School Sports Coverage
Status: This is a temporary PRN position from March 24th - June 8th
Classification: Non-Exempt - Hourly
Location: This position is primarily based at our Vail Clinic location requiring frequent travel for high school sports coverage in Gypsum and Vail, CO.
Schedule: Work hours will vary week to week based on business demands. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Pay Range: $35.00/hr
CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER OVERVIEW:
The Steadman Clinic is looking for an athletic trainer is passionate about work with high school athletes in a variety of sports. The athletic trainer will be responsible for the sports medicine program and coverage of all high school athletic department activities at Eagle Valley High School and Vail Mountain School. The athletic trainer will provide Athletic Training Services to student athletes under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with state athletic training practice act. The athletic trainer will play a vital role in the communication and the relationship between The Steadman Clinic, the high school and the community.
Additional job responsibilities will include; athletic training coverage as needed and assigned by the director of athletic training for the outreach program, mentoring and oversight of a student athletic training aid program.
The position includes day, evening and weekend coverage for high school athletics and community outreach coverage March 25 - June 8. Position includes coverage of all high school home practices during the weekdays (non-holiday), home games and travel as needed. Position includes additional sports medicine/first aid/marketing event coverage as assigned by director of athletic training.
The PRN High School Certified Athletic Trainer, is a mid to high-range role with the expectation of operating with advanced level skills and knowledge, independent execution, execution of complex tasks, with high impact on athlete/patient care.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
High School Athletic Coverage -
- Provide daily athletic training services to student-athletes participating in CHSAA athletics
- Provide emergency care and first aid
- Concussion management program including, education, prevention program, evaluation, documentation, referrals, management, protocol updates, return to play progression and communication
- Documentation of all injuries, treatments, return to play progressions, referrals, rehabilitation, health records and communication
- Research data collection
- Injury prevention, management and treatment
- Demonstrate and documenting value of athletic training position thru revenue tracking and reimbursement
- Communication with athletes, parents, medical director, healthcare professionals and school staff and administers (HIPPA and FERPA compliant)
- Supply and budget management
- Organizing and assisting with pre-participation physicals
- Comply with policies and procedures
- Develop rehabilitation, return to play and strength and conditioning programs
- Manage and document injury/illness referrals
Administrative Duties -
- Organizing and assisting with pre-participation physicals.
- Document all patient encounters.
- Maintaining and organizing documentation related to past medical history, pre-participation physicals, emergency contacts, and injury tracking software.
- Injury reporting/data collection both internally and externally using appropriate communication chain, and in compliance with national and international regulations.
- Implement and maintain emergency action plans at all events and venues.
- Organize and lead interdisciplinary team meetings concentrating on individualized health, safety, and progression of athletes.
- Create safe and inclusive environments for athletes.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in athletic training or related field, highly preferred.
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, in good standing.
- Current Colorado state licensed athletic trainer, valid with DORA, or the ability to obtain license prior to start date.
- CPR/BLS for healthcare provider.
- SafeSport Certification (Core Training and Health Professional)
- Experience with concussion management and maintaining compliance to related regulations.
- Must maintain a professional attitude towards patients and an excellent and collegial working relationship with other Steadman Clinic, Steadman-Philippon Research Institute, and hospital personnel in involved in delivering patient care.
