Job Summary:
The Buyer / Material Planner is responsible for the procurement of purchased components acting as the centralized point of contact in alignment with the overall Supply Chain Strategy. The Buyer / Material Planner will be considered a subject matter expert in materials planning. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing components from suppliers to assure timely delivery of parts to support production while managing cross functional needs.
Location: Onsite (Streetsboro, OH Headquarters)
Job Duties:
- Optimize and manage MRP parameters in Oracle ERP system to optimize buying/planning process.
- Collaborate cross functionally in support of required daily purchasing standard work.
- Develop, maintain & optimize inventory strategy for assigned category.
- Build/Maintain supplier relationships acting as the key liaison for all supplier matters.
- Build/Maintain supplier relationships acting as the key liaison for all supplier matters.
- Participate and manage assigned ECNs with external supplier base.
- Support Procurement Leadership Team with various projects including vendor management and strategy creation, implementation, and periodic supplier business reviews.
- Serve as a backup for other positions within the Material Planning group.
- Work with the quality department to drive corrective action with suppliers making sure they are being held accountable.
- Collaborate with Logistics to enhance inbound transportation efficiencies.
- Drive continuous improvement through root cause identification and corrective action management.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
- Other projects and tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study and/or three to five years of professional material planning and/or purchasing experience
- Effective negotiator
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Dynamic collaborator who can succeed and grow in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Proficient with spreadsheets and cost accounting fundamentals
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to track and successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Oracle experience highly preferred
Work Environment:
This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc. are essential.
