Job Summary:
The Product Engineer will lead the design, development, and execution of new products, with a focus on manufacturability, durability, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a strong technical background in plastics manufacturing, along with experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in product design and process optimization, ensuring that products meet standards for aesthetics, functionality, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead product design efforts by collaborating with industrial designers and Product Management to maintain design intent while ensuring manufacturability
- Engineer single and multi-component plastic products with a focus on cost optimization, durability, and performance
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to refine designs, prevent production challenges, and improve efficiency
- Manage product development projects, estimating timelines, identifying risks, and driving execution to meet deadlines and cost targets
- Evaluate feasibility of designs by considering costs, materials, and technical constraints
- Conduct engineering studies on product structures, subsystems, and component interactions
- Develop innovative solutions to address technical challenges in product design and manufacturing
- Support new product launches, cost reduction initiatives, and quality improvements
- Validate designs through testing, analysis, and project reviews, ensuring alignment with performance goals
- Own the full lifecycle of assigned products, from concept to production
- Other duties and projects assigned as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 3-7 years of experience in product engineering, preferably in plastics manufacturing
- Expertise in rotational molding, injection molding, and blow molding design principles
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo experience preferred) with strong knowledge of surfacing and top-down design
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (preferred)
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence outcomes
Work Environment:
This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc. are essential.
This position will have the ability to be hybrid at the manager’s discretion.
