Plant HR Manager
This role plays a key part in building a future-ready organization by leading critical HR functions within the plant. The Plant HR Manager will oversee employee relations, recruitment, training and development, and compliance with labor laws. Acting as a strategic business partner to the Senior Plant Manager and leadership team, this role will drive organizational performance, foster a positive and inclusive work environment, and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Business Impact
- Partner with the finance team to manage the HR budget, ensuring cost-effective HR practices.
- Analyze HR metrics to identify trends and support data-driven decision-making that enhances financial performance.
- Optimize workforce planning to balance operational efficiency with labor costs.
Employee & Labor Relations
- Provide HR guidance and support to plant employees and management.
- Manage relationships with union representatives and oversee collective bargaining agreements.
- Address employee concerns promptly, ensuring effective resolution and a positive workplace culture.
- Foster strong employee relationships to create an inclusive and engaged workforce.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Develop and implement HR policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
- Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract and retain top talent.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Conduct regular audits of HR processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Talent Development & Organizational Growth
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the plant.
- Identify and implement best practices to enhance employee experience, engagement, and productivity.
- Develop and deliver training programs to support employee growth and career advancement.
- Stay up to date with HR trends to ensure the plant remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop the on-site HR team, ensuring they have the skills and capabilities needed to support the plant effectively.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to drive a high-performance HR function.
Key Qualifications & Success Factors
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience in a manufacturing or plant environment, preferably within a unionized setting.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws at both state and federal levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead HR initiatives and manage complex projects.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
