The Steward School seeks an enthusiastic and committed Middle School Mathematics Teacher for the academic year 2025-2026. This is a part-time faculty position reporting to the Director of Middle School.
Responsibilities
This position will teach three sections of a Problem-Solving Seminar to sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students.The preferred candidate will be able to:
o
Build productive relationships with students and provide an empowering student-centered learning environment that is equitable, inclusive, respectful, and supportive.
o
Plan and deliver creative and effective instruction and assessments that develop critical thinking skills.
o
Utilize technology to facilitate instruction.
o
Collaborate effectively with colleagues.
o
Post and maintain curriculum, syllabi, and grades.
o
Demonstrate familiarity with differential learning instruction.
o
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Middle School.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in Mathematics and/or Education is required.The preferred candidate will have:
o
Master's degree and/or Commonwealth of Virginia certification.
o
Relevant classroom experience, including Middle School mathematics instruction o
Technological proficiency in the classroom, including Google Education apps, interactive whiteboards, and electronic grade books.
o
A growth mindset and an enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and academic excellence.
o
Strong communication skills and collaboration skills.
o
The desire and ability to develop an atmosphere of trust and knowledge of students as individuals.
o
The ability to design curriculum, instruction, and assessment in order to teach a diverse community of learners.
