The Steward School seeks an enthusiastic and committed Upper School Dean of Student Support for 2025-2026. This is a full-time, fully benefited administrative position reporting to the Director of Upper School.Responsibilities: Student SupportFacilitate and maintain communication with students, parents, faculty, and administrators about specific student academic concerns.Provide instructional resources for students, including coordinate make-up work after extended absences and triage acute academic needs.Monitor student progress across the Upper School and intercede as necessary, including placing students on Academic Probation.Coordinate services for students with academic accommodations, including proctor students with additional time for standardized tests.Collaborate with Steward's JK-12 School Counselor to address students' socio-emotional needs, including supporting students in crisis. Faculty SupportMaintain accurate and up-to-date student profiles, including relevant test data, support strategies, and academic accommodations.Serve as a resource to faculty to assist them in meeting the needs of their students, including leading occasional workshops and professional development on best practices.Family SupportFacilitate referrals to community resources (educational testing, etc.), including follow-up communications with outside professionals.Admissions SupportInterview and complete academic screenings for Upper School applicants and serve on the Upper School Admissions Team.Other Serve as an Upper School Administrative Team member and collaborate on all decision-making responsibilities. Participate in weekly student support meetings with the Upper School administration and school counselor.Serve as the Upper School Center for the Advancement of Learning (CAL) Liaison, including coordinating tutor matches and maintaining communication with tutors.Teach a Freshman Seminar class on study skills and learning strategies.Build productive relationships with students, faculty, and families to provide an empowering, student-centered, and mission-driven learning environment that is equitable, inclusive, respectful, and supportive.Other duties as assigned by the Director of Upper School.Qualifications and experience: A Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in special education or similar, or a Bachelor's degree with significant training and experience in special education, is required.Being an excellent communicator with the ability to lead complex conversations with students, colleagues, parents, and outside professionals regarding student issues.The preferred candidate will have:Master's degree with a concentration in learning differences or similar Five years of experience in an educational setting working with students to remediate deficits and being part of an interdisciplinary team.Relevant Upper School classroom experience at a like-minded independent school.Experience interpreting psycho-educational evaluations.An understanding of and passion for equity and inclusion.
