Description
The Real Estate division of the Stewart Companies is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The Accountant I will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including accounts receivable and accounts payable, timely month-end reporting, and financial statement and budget preparation.
Principal Accountabilities
- Summarize and prepare financial statements and transaction reports, including monthly profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, etc. for several operating divisions.
- Work closely with members of the Operations team and management to ensure a strong understanding of operating procedures necessary to accurately report monthly financial data.
- Significant involvement with annual budget preparations.
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable, including but not limited to cash application, payables processing, etc.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date lease records in a dedicated software system, tracking changes and amendments to leases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of related experience required.
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently on assigned duties with little to no supervision.
- Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.
